RCDS & RCCBS

RCD (Residual Current Device) is a term used to cover the family of devices which provide protection to the wiring, fixed appliances and persons using an electrical installation. They do this by constantly monitoring the electric current flowing through one or more circuits, and preventing electrical shocks if a fault occurs by tripping automatically and cutting off power. An RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) is a RCD without overload protection.
